Question
Hey Jacquie! :-) Remember me?!? I have the two dark eyed white fuzzies with the potty training problem. Well I wanted to thank you for all of your help on the potty problem. They no longer have it. It took awhile and ALOT of extra work but we finally figured out a system that works out for them. Ever other ferret cage I've had, I had atleast one litter pan on each floor. This is a four story floor (plus bottom floor and six inch base) We removed some of the floors turning it into a three story (6 foot tall) cage. It turns out, the place they were using the most to potty was the bottom of the cage, and used the rest mostly for playing and sleeping. We put bedding down all over the top floors as you suggested and so far, no accidents. We've put litter in every corner on the bottom and sure enough, IT WORKED! They no longer play in their litter, they go down to -what we like to call "the basement" :) and do their business, come right back up to the top floors and play and sleep. They are still jumping back in their cages to potty while they are out playing. We NO longer have to deal with the smell, no longer have to take the cage completely apart twice a week for cleaning... and don't have to worry about whether or not they are potty trainable :) Thanks again. Things are alot easier for us now, and we now have more time to spend playing with them, rather than cleaning their cage constantly. We are all alot happier. Oscar is still my big baby and won't let anyone else hold him, but he is getting better about going up to other people, and taking treats from other people, amazingly, he won't lick any FerretVite from anyone else but me still. However, we do have a NEW addition to the family :) A cute little dark sable female, born April 15th. Her name is Muki. We were worried about having to potty train another ferret, but in her own little seperate cage, it took about 15 minutes to potty train her. we brought her home, she went once in the corner. We put it in her box and showed her, she looked at it for awhile, and has gone in her box ever since :) I'm very proud of her, she's a smart little girl. We got her from a pet store (there are no breeders or shelters even remotely close to here :( and she didn't even have a litter pan in her cage while she was there. She's so clever. Anyway just wanted to thank you again for all of your patience and help and wanted to let you know that things are going GREAT here :) Thanks alot

Answer
Hi Lynze -

Of course I remember you!! :-) I'm SO happy to hear that your kids are now 'behaving' much better!  It's kind letters like yours that make it worthwhile for me to continue to devote my time to trying to help other ferret owners.  Thanks so much for your kind words!  I love to get updates and especially when the news is so good! :-) HUGS TO THE FUZZY ONES!

In gratitude,
Jacquie Rodgers
