Question
I am currently looking for a little boy albino and I have been worrying about what vetinary care is necessary. I have had two ferres before but that was when I was muc younger and parents handled any vet visits. I was just wondering what viruses there are that a ferret might need to be vaccinated against so i know what to ask about, also I was wondering at what age is the best time to take them to be neutered?
Another thing that is worrying me is that im looking for a loyal companion not just a pet, so i was wondering just how loyal ferrets can become, I dont want to buy an animal that i wont be able to bond with as that would be a shame.
I would be especially grateful for your imput on this subject x

Answer
Ferrets just need annual booster shots for rabbies and distemper, these are not expensive ($20-40). Make sure you go to a qualified FERRET vet for these, if they are not given correctly the ferret may have serious side effects. Your ferret should already be neutered when you buy him, if he's not, get a ferret from someone else who is more responsible (this isn't a problem if you get a ferret from a pet store or a shelter, however, even private breeders should fix their baby ferrets before they sell).

Ferrets become very attached to their owners, and are very loyal. If separated from their owners many ferrets become depressed and some even die from the heart break. On the intelligence/emotional level, ferrets are on par with dogs, but require much less maintenance.
