Need a STRONG/ sturdy cage.

Question
Hi Jacquie,
I have three ferrets, and the youngest is a male. He is significantly bigger than my other two girls, and he is very strong. He broke one cage with his teeth, so I had to put him in a very sturdy cage which, in my opinion, is not convenient for him.
I am looking for a larger cage where all three can hang out. They spend most of the time outside, so I am not that concerned about rolling freely in the cage I would purchase. My main criteria is sturdiness. It needs to be very strong and heavy to resist my fuzzy's teeth.
Jacquie, would you be able to suggest anything? I am tired of my ferrets getting out and sleeping in random places, and I worry I might unintentionally hurt them.

Thank you very much,
Anna.

Answer
Hi Anna:

In my opinion, the strongest, sturdiest cages are made by Martins Cages here in the U.S.  Here is a link to their website:  http://www.martinscages.com/products/cages/ferret/

My personal favorites for your needs would be:

Ferret Villa F-435
New Englander FNE-480
Condo with Barn Top F-477

Of course, have a look at the others too and see which may fit best in the space you have, but these three are VERY STURDY and top rate cages. They are expensive, but consider it a one-time expense, whereas a cheap cage sometimes has to be replaced every few years.  I like Martin's Mages because there is no place where the ferret can fall very far (yes, falls happen IN cages) and yet they leave plenty room for hammocks, etc. Every level has an entry hole large enough for a litterbox and to make it easy to clean. I just think they are awesome.  The barn style even has a removable travel top to take a ferret to the vet, etc, thus avoiding yet another expense you would usually have.  I just can't say enough about them....and no, I'm not in any way related or associated with anyone there; I don't know anyone there at all....just good cages!

Hope that helps!

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
