house training a 16 week old pup

Question
I purchased a 14 week old black labrador 2 weeks ago.  Either my children or I takes him to the edge of the yard every morning and several times per day to do his business.  While most times he uses the opportunity, several times he has gone either #1 or #2 in the house immediately after being outside for 10 minutes.  He is in  his crate at night and if we are not home and he has not soiled the crate.  I raised a lab 13 years ago from 7 weeks old and he had exactly 2 accidents in the house by the door and they were my fault b/c I wasn't fast enough.  I don't know if I had such an easy time with my 1st lab b/c I got him so much younger.  I would like to allow my dog in the house but I need help.

Answer
Keep at it, Dan. Some dogs take longer than others. If he doesn't potty when you take him out, leave the leash on him when you go back in, so that you can catch him >>before<< he potties on the floor and get him immediately back outside.
