Do you have any tips on the best way to introduce a cat(11yo) into the house of a Cairn Terrier.

The best way I know how to do it is to first get a towel and leave it for the cat to sleep on or rub it on the cat (for the sent) bring that home for your dog to smell and be curious about. The following article goes in to depth on introducing the two. I need some information from you to give you the best advise. How old is the dog? Does it have any obedience training?
