flatmate dog growling rewarding

Question
QUESTION: The flatmate has a dog.  Her previous dog was sociable. He was put down in July. Her current dog has had issues or problems coming in.  This dog growls at me in the kitchen when I enter to make food.  The flatmate SAYS no to the dog, not at all sharply, and then after 30 seconds of dog silence, she gives the dog, a smart Kelpie, a biscuit or reward.  The dog has her tail low between her legs and cowers at me.  As stated, dog behaved this way from the get go, but it hasn't stopped.  Previous owner problems, but corrections have not been forthcoming.  It's been 4 months now.  Legally, can a person be sued for training their dog to growl at a tenant who pays rent and cooks meals?  Kathleen Tipton (fed up with dog owner's attitude)

ANSWER: I am not certain about the legal ramifications of your situation. That would be better addressed by an attorney or other legal professional.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Good Luck.

QUESTION: Would you be able to recommend an attorney or legal professional?  It would be for information, a history of similar activity.  I have left a 'dog growling' problem doc with the flatmate so she can address it.  She does not appear to have read it, but she hasn't thrown the doc in the bin either.

Answer
Don't know if you have tried talking with your housemate about the concerns you have regarding the dog, but that might help too. Think the informational brochure is a good start too as long as your roommate looks through it.

Not certain where you live, but this is a good resource for legal professionals in the United States. http://www.abanet.org/

Good Luck!
