Male Husky scared of Male owner

Question
Hi there, my husband and I recently (4 days) adopted a 14 month old male husky.  We have had a 4 year old female husky mix since she was a puppy and wanted to give her a friend.  The dogs get along great and the new dog (Jake) and I get along wonderfully.  However Jake is terrified of my husband (for no known reason) and will not listen to him or get anywhere near him except for bedtime.  My husband is very upset about this and does not think Jake will change and that Jake will not be a good fit for our family (which upsets me greatly).

Also while Jake's foster mom said he was potty trained he is still marking quite frequently in the house.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer
Jake CAN change.  For the next three weeks, have your hubby be the only one to feed or walk the dog.  You can let the dog trail a drag line (leash) so that hubby can step on the end to get hold of the dog without appearing threatening.  Tell him not to stare at Jake and to speak very, very quietly at all times.  This worked well for my hound, also a man-phobic.  He became my fiance's best bud:-))

Jake was probably not well house trained by his former family.  Patricia McConnell's book, "Way to Go" is inexpensive and can help you to train him, even at this age.  Good luck.
