Question
I have a 3 yr old pembrooke corgi.  She will bark at me only when my wife is home and I try to get up from my recliner or close my laptop.  She does not bark at my wife or at me if my wife is not home.  She occasionaly barks at the TV or a car when she is on a leash.  please help

Answer
I need to see what you and your wife are doing when the barking goes on, immediately before and after to really assess the situation. Generally this is attention barking. I suspect either you or your wife either scold or comfort her when she does this and that is an attention reward. If that's the case, stop. If she's sitting on your wife's lap or on the furniture when she starts barking it could be defensive- territory claiming sass, make her get off as a consequence. If she gets nippy, take away her furniture privileges altogether.

Corgi's are herding dogs, they bark. Just make sure that her barking is never rewarded. Ideally turn her attention to something more appropriate. Have her sit, or lie down or do a trick instead and reward her for that. If you can discover the trigger and have her sit or lie down before she starts barking, even better. Soon instead of barking when whatever that trigger is occurs she'll sit and lie down.
