When Im not home

Question
I saw a question on here that kinda answered my question but not really. My dog is a very obediant, smart dog. When I leave that house though, she tends to get on the bed and the couch. She never tries or is ever let onto the couch when I'm home. It's only when I'm off at work. How do I train her not to do this? I would like her to have an understanding that she can't sleep on my bed or couch while I'm gone instead of going through preventative measures so that she physically can't get onto the bed or couch. Thank you!!!!

Answer
If you're gone, only way I can think of is preventing it physically.  Closing bedroom door, or using a mat that is sold with little nubs on it so it's uncomfortable to lie on.  You can also try getting a dog bed she likes and positioning it in the area of the house she likes to rest.  Or you can just do what I do, cover my couch with a bed sheet and let them on it, hah.
