Question
I would like to have a dog since my past dog lives with my relatives in my old city. I am hoping for a medium dog that is energetic and good with children. And hopefully sheds a small amount (but if not its ok). Reply back soon

Answer
If you want a dog that is suited to a busy household, and is energetic, this can apply to almost any breed. But a dog that has little energy would suit you better. This is because, I assume, that you have little time for two walks a day. Get a short-haired, older dog, that is used to kids. The best place to find such a dog is in a shelter, or rescue. This way you dont have to deal with puppy antics. An older dog who is already trained, or partially trained is easier to live with, when you have little time.
Also, make sure the little ones in the household can handle a dog. They need to behave just as much as the dog. No pulling of ears, tail, or hair. No chasing, teasing or harrassing when eating. Also, make sure the training and rules are the same for everyone in the house. You don't want the dog getting confused from someone saying down when they mean off, then saying down and meaning lay-down. Trust me, this highly confuses dogs.
A mutt would suit your family best, and older(Over 2 yrs) would be best. Go to a shelter, or check out websites for shelters, and rescues near you. Take time to find the purfect dog, and don't rush. This way you and your family will be happy in your desicion.
Also, one more thing. A dog belongs in the home, and not chained out back. This is why some dogs bark, howl and generally misbehave.

Good luck, and I hope I've helped.
