Min Pin Rescue from Puppymill

I am fostering a female minpin from a puppymill seizure.  She appears to be very  
young but looks as if she has had several litters because her little nipples are
very saggy.  There are a couple that are really long and I was wondering if they
will ever get  back to normal.  She has a couple that are very long and it
concerns me that I might accidently hurt them when I pick her up.

Hi Carolyn,

Just like some human moms, some canine moms don't get all the way back to normal... the nipples can remain darker, and often remain larger (longer).

Since she is a rescue dog, you don't know when she had her last litter. A dog's breasts increase enormously in size while nursing, and return to their natural state six or eight weeks after having finished the weaning period.

That said, you should have the dog examined by a vet to rule out any underlying problems.
