Question
My dog cyndi is a rottweiler and turned 1 in April. Weve had her since last September and she has always been fully potty trained. My husband is in the army and about to deploy and I am pregnant with a 2 yr old and 4 yr old. We never allow cyndi upstairs because we want that to be a dog free zone. After having her for a few weeks and yelling NO everytime she would go upstairs she got the idea that we didnt want her there. We put her in her kennel at night which is about 1am to about 6 am until my husband gets up from work. She has also been in her kennel at times all day while he was at work and I wa son vacation so Im pretty sure she can hold it if she had to. The problem is my siste rin law just moved in almost a month ago with her beagle. My sister in law moved in to help me out while my husband is deployed. Her beagle sleeps with her. I have other problems with her allowing her beagle on my new furniture so we are working on her dog learning thats a big no no. We told her that her dog can sleep in her room at night but we dont want the dog wondering around upstairs since we dont allow our dog upstairs. So we put up a baby gate so my kids can climb over it but the little dog cant jump it to go upstairs during the day. We have had problems of my dog cyndi jumping the gate and peeing and pooping at the top of the stairs. Im thinking its her doing a territory thing or maybe shes mad that the little dog can sleep upstairs and she cant. I dont know how to keep her from going upstairs ad going to the bathroom up there. I feel also im in a hard spot because I feel that maybe if the beagle want going upstairs it would be easier for us to keep cyndi from going upstairs. How do I keep her from going to the bathroom in the house, from going upstairs and do you think she is doing this because of the new beagle in the house?

Answer
Hello, Cyndi is mad for the new roommates...the human and the dog she sees it unfit they get to sleep upstairs and not her and they are new comers! THe little dog getting to go upstairs is of course making her jelus upset and frusterated and this is why she is acting up keeping teh little dog down stairs  all the time even at night would help or putting the Rotty crate upstairs would work also for peeing in the house let her out at regular times after meals/play/sleeping after being crated and before being crated also thou this is I doubt the reason she is doing this dogs can be zelus also with being pregnant and your husband leaving she can also be feeling severly neglected I understnad you might not be able to provide the same ammount of affetcion and time to her as you once did but with your nerw roommate you can get her to walk the dog/play fetch with the dog and keep the dog in the know of things dogs hate to be ignored and will act apon it....if the kids and everyone are loving on the beagle and ignoring the rotty this is also why she is downright upset and angry...trying to fix these things as soon as yuo can will be the best plan or things could get worse.
