Question
I have been told to use gold bond powder on dog which is burnese mountain dog and german shepard mix. he is 10 and has always had skin issues but since we moved to KS from MN his skin has gotten worse. he bites and scratches his sin continuously!! he seems so miserable.
I have gone to the vet, gotten cortizone shots which are 150 a pop every 6 weeks which is so spendy, and also some meds as well. it helps but not really ya know?!
i have since tried shampoos, tea bags, oatmeal, sprays, ointments and NOTHING has worked.
I was at petsmart the other day and stated to use gold bond, but after seeing that they inhale it and lick it. Im worried he will get sick.
i also wanted to know about pure aloe??! Can these go all over the skin and rub in? or just spots. his skin all over from neck to paws ich!

Any info would help!
Thanks!!!

Cortizone cream may help, as well as just benedryl, which always is a good suggestion for very itchy skin from allergies, but I'm sure you have tried these already. Creams and aloes can offer temp relief but you'd probably have to shave him down to get to his skin through that double shep/berner coat.

What has been done to try to find out the cause of his skin problems? Has testing been done to determine if it is allergies or if it is a yeast or bacterial infection reocuring?

It sounds like he could have really bad food allergies. What are you feeding him? (Brand/type/how often) What do you use for flea control? Is he inside or outside all the time?

Let me know, maybe  I can help solve the actual problem!
Thanks!
