Question
WE HAVE A SMALL CHIHUAHUA THAT GETS CONSTIPATED OR IMPACTED FREQUENTLY---WE HAVE SPENT 100'S OF DOLLARS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY.  ENEMAS, XRAYS, BLOODWORK AND ALL SORTS OF STUFF--I NEED A SOLUTION NOT A QUICK FIX.  CAN YOU HELP ME?
I FEED HER CAN FOOD(SMALL AMOUNT) 2 TIMES A DAY.  SHE IS AN INSIDE DOG BUT SPENDS HRS OUTSIDE.  I DO NOT GIVE HER TREATS OR TABLE FOOD BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE ANYTHING FOR HER.  THE VET SAYS TO GIVE HER LAXATONE 2 TIMES A DAY==WHICH I DO==AND NOTHING.  SHE CRIES OUT IN PAIN FOR HRS AT A TIME.  SHE GETS OK AFTER AN ENEMA AND THEN THE CYCLE STARTS AGAIN.  I CAN'T AFFORD MUCH MORE BUT WE LOVE OUR BABY.  WHAT CAN I DO??

Answer
Hello Amber;
Can food is mostly a combination of protein and starch, which breaks down into simple sugars..Protein, especially any Liver products makes dogs Constipated!
She is in dire need of Fiber!

Go to this website: www.Bestbreed.com
Check out their  diets, and look for the one that has the most Fiber;
You can speak to the owner, Kent, and leave him a message, tell him Melissa sent you.
And they have a VET who is a Nutritionist, who made the Diets based on problems in dogs.
So, I highly recommend them!

Tell him what you have been going through.
You need good ingredients that are fresh and palatable for the dog's digestion, and a balance of nutrients to give the dog what she needs to thrive!

Let me know how this works out,
As I have used them for over 10 years with different breeds, and Love the results!!!

Best wishes, and please leave a rating with the site, that would be most appreciated!
Again, let me know if I can further assist you.
Sincerely,
Melissa
