swallowing

My 1 year choch. lab eats weeds all day & does a lot of hard swallowing, not very energetic ,like acid reflux or something in her throat,Any home remedies?

Make sure your dog is on a good-quality food. The first ingredient should be a specified meat meal (ie. chicken meal), there should be a limited number of grains, and NO by-products, ethoxyquin, or menadione sodium bisulfate (source of vitamin K) should be in the food.

Keep the weeds pulled or cut down, and limit the dog's access to them.

When she goes in for her next check-up, have the vet take a look at her throat. Maybe she has something like tonsillitis that is bothering her.

I would start walking her more and throwing things for her to retrieve. Make sure she is in good weight, and feed her less if necessary. You should be able to feel her ribs easily, but not see them. Dogs kept slightly on the thin side tend to live 1-1/2 to two years longer than their heavier littermates.
