DIGGING!!

Hi,
I have 6 month old Border Collie and a 2 year old Border Collie. They have figured out a new and improved hobby! DIGGING!! How do I stop this. They never dig when your around, but when you come in looks like someone's trying to go to China! They are destroying our lawn and flower beds! I know you can't punish them after its done and over with and they have forgotten. But I just don't understand how I'm supposed to fix this! If they don't quit digging I have to get rid of them!:O( (my parents said). PLEASE help me!!! I'll take any advice you can give!! Thank you so much for your time!

dear kim,i also have a 2 year old border collie and when i read this i was most eager to provide you with my best advice.i would hate for you to lose your pets.i recently about 1 year ago lost my ferret to death but i still never give up faith that i will see hm someday.this is what i came up with. get a fence area they can`t escape.than although it may cost some big bucks fill it with rice.when you bring them outside watch them until they go the bathroom then put them in the  rice pit fr 2 hours so their not eager to dig the lawn.a more affordable idea is to cut there nails.WHATEVER IT TAKES DON`T GIVE UP YOUR DOGS.IT HURTS TO MUCH.when your problem solved please tell me wat happen i hope i elped you.good luck.
