Border Collies and children

Question
Hi, I've been reading a lot of negative articles about keeping border collies and young children. We have an 8 week old BC and 2 children aged 2 and 3. Zac (the BC) does try to herd them if the run about with him. How can I teach him not to do this? I assume I need to make him below them in the 'pack'? When he tries to herd them I tell him no firmly and he immediately becomes submissive. Is this the right tact? I never leave him alone with the children and he is kept seperate down in the kitchen and brought up to play with them fully supervised...

Answer
well considering i myself am mothering a young female border collie  also w/ a little presents in the house. i often seem to catch her growling at her.
i would suggest to have the children punish them often so he 5thinks of them as a higher rank. good luck;).
