Question
We have a 9 year old collie  (female) and a 10 year old sheltie.  They're both house dogs in Wa. state. (40 miles north of Portland, Or.)  I keep putting that "anti-flea" medicine you put between their shoulder blades and on the root of their tail.  But, they still scratch up a storm!  I sprayed the yard and bombed the house too!  But, still a lot of scratching going on.  Any suggestions?
Thanks, Hal Kee

Answer
If it's fleas it depends on the type of topical med you are using. I've found the only thing that works is Frontline and Advantage. The Walmart brands don't do squat.  Also, it may be allergies or skin reaction to having been bitten.  Bathing in a Eucalyptus/citronella shampoo can help. Add flax seed to their diet to help with the allergies and cut out the "preservatives" in their diet which can also cause a host of skin problems.
