QuestionHello,
I have a border collie mix (mom was a border collie). He is not yet three months old, but has a strong herding instinct and likes to nip at me. At this point I have about 14 marks on my arms and legs from his nips. Obviously I need to get this under control sooner rather than later. What can I do?
AnswerHello Melissa,
The method that works best for nipping puppies is to give them a good "pop" under the chin. After correcting them, you can give them an alternative to chew on such as a sock with a knot tied in it. At three months old he is very much in the teething stage now and needs things to chew on. Nipping, however, is unacceptable behavior so you'll want to fix that while he is still small.
Thank you for your question.
