Question
QUESTION: Ok I am really tired of cleaning up the poo! We have been having some very very cold weather here this last week and also switched her food (Iams large breed pup which she didn't like much) about the same time. She started pooing in her kennel, which is small for her, and on the floor. It started out as a normal BM but they got softer and softer and  during the night she will do it 3 to 5 times! Just the other day we thought maybe it is a combo of the cold and the food so we are trying a different food now (Science Diet for pups) and she seems to like it. Some of her BM's are starting to be a little more solid but not consistant. She is eating and drinking and seems to have her normal behavior. Are we on the right track? Or do I see a vet trip in the future :) Thank you!

ANSWER: Hi Sara. It could be that she just needs some time to adjust to the new food. Science Diet is a great food, by the way. After a while eating it, she'll have less bowel movements, and will require less food. I'd take her in for a check up just to be on the safe side. She may have something going on intestinal wise. You didn't say how old she is....

QUESTION: I'm sorry...she is 7 months old and full of it:)

Answer
Ahhh....7 months. It's a wonderful age. lol Can I let you in on a little secret? I have found in all of my experience with Boxers, that females tend to be harder, and take longer, to house break than the males. I don't know why, but I'd just about swear to it. I even have notes that I wrote about my dogs, and this kept coming up. :-) I'd still take her in for a check up to rule out any problems. A lot of behaviors can be fixed when a medical problem is solved. Like I said, she may also just need some time to adjust to the new food. I say this a lot, but I mean it....Good luck! :-) If I can help with anything else, let me know!
