Question
i have a 6 month old male and i have been asked to take a 2 year old boxer felmale now do you think they will be ok together or is the age to far apart , i so want another boxer but im worried they wont get on , im meeting the another tonight and im brining my dog as well but how can i tell weather to take her home with us

Answer
Hi Jackie,

They should get along, but there is never a guarantee as each dog has an individual personality and we never know what life experiences they have encountered. Tonight make sure you are calm and relaxed when meeting the new dog and allow the dogs to sniff each other first, loose lead is important, you don't want to cause a fight because of your own energy. Dogs pick on up on human emotions. If your overly excited then your boxer will be too and the new dog may take this as a sign of dominance so calm is the key. Do expect them to box each other as boxers do, no harm there. If there is no growling or hair on the back raising up ,etc. then you may have found a match. As humans we try to pick a dog's friends and pack when in reality this would never be the case in the wild, if a dog wasn't accepted it would be ousted from the pack not forced to get along. I hope this one is a match for you and your boxer, good luck and thank you for your question.
