Question
QUESTION: We have a 2 year old female, who has been fixed. She is taking a very long time to pee, and we noticed a drop of blood yesterday on the carpet, and a pool of bloody water on the floor today. What could be causing this?

ANSWER: Any bleeding from the urinary tract is a worry as such please take her to a vet.
This is likely to be stones or struvites causing her to have a blockage , it is common for this breed, suggest take her off all dried foods give her cranberry tablets immediately and use a good quality diet that can include tinned wet foods but it is very important to have her taken off all dried foods.
TAKER HER TO A VET and tell him you think it could be stones or struvites. Can also be a Urinary tract infection hence my suggestion of cranberry tablets.

QUESTION: Thank you. My vet says today she has 6 stones in her bladder, and is telling me surgery is the only option. Should I get a 2nd opinion? Can't believe at 2 years old we're already dealing with things like this.
Are there specific questions I should ask of them?

Answer
In my experience surgery is the option now ,   It is very important for you to alter her diet immediately no more dried foods whatsoever.
She must have cranberry tablets daily for life now to prevent this from happening again. Her diet must also now be a natural one , ie, meat veggies, fruit , fish etc.
