Question
My wife and i recently rescued a beagle pup someone left in a local park.  She appeared to be about three months old and shortly after we saved her she started to devlop mange.  After taking her to the vet, and following his reccomendations the poor puppy is much worse.  She has torn most her hair out and has bad skin infections and has recently developed a cyst like growth on her throat.  I am about spent out at the vet, with no improvement, and was wondering if there were any home remedies that could help her.  I believe if we could get he to stop tearing at heself, we might be able to get her to heal.  Can you reccommend garlic ?  I've been told that may help, and also told it can be toxic in large amounts.  This dog spends all day itching and tearing at her skin, the weekly baths using a keatolytic benzoyl peroxide 3 percent solution give her a days respite from the discomfort, but I cant bathe her more than once a week.

Answer
Hi, thanks for writing. All I can say is RUN don't walk to the nearest canine dermatoligst. This poor puppy is in agony and most likely full of secondary infections from the mange. It takes someone who really knows what they are doing to treat this. I don't personally think that ny homeopathic stuff will work, orry. Mange is tough enough to cure with modern medicine. I hope you can find someone quickly and give this poor thing some relief. Good luck!
