Question
My husband is getting upset because our 9m old torti loves to sleep in the bathroom sink & jumps on the kitchen counter - what can we do??????

Answer
Dear Terry,

Your cat is probably a cat who enjoys the water! I have Maine coon who jumps in the sinks all the time, because he loves the water drops! Your cat may think the water drops are relaxing and exciting.

Your cat may also be doing this because she thinks the shape of the sink is comfortable. Maybe get her a bed that is the same shape of your two sinks- the one in the kitchen, and bathroom.

Your cat may like the feel of the counter and sink, and it may make your cat comfortable and happy. Maybe get something that feels like that, and maybe she will stop.

Your cat may also like the temperature of the room, because she might feel too cold or hot in any other rooms. Find out if the air conditioner or radiator in your house is causing this behavior.

Fill your cats water dish every now and then, there is a small chance she just may be a very thirsty cat who is picky with her warm or cold water, and loves fresh water. That's my cat, Tobey!

If your cat is misbehaving a lot, and none of these suggestions are helping, then I suggest you get a water gun with very cold water, and spray your cat when she/he is doing wrong. That will not hurt him/her, but teach her she is doing wrong. Cats dislike getting sprayed, so that should help.

I think your cat is very funny! If she sleeps in the sink, then just carry her if she doesn't usually mind, and put her on maybe a pillow, a place in front of the window, or a soft bed. Maybe she'll change her habit.

Good luck, and thank you so much for choosing me as an expert! I hope I helped, and if you need any further information, than just e-mail me, and we can chat a little more. Thanks again, and good luck with Torti! Bye!
