URGENT!! cat has fleas

my cat has fleas very badly, whats the cheapest and most effective way to treat him? should i being using shampoos, flea collars, powders, or what? if you dont have and answer can you please direct me to someone you can, thanks

I will tell you right now that shampoos only work for 24 hours and do not kill everything; flea collars simply do not work; powders work the same as shampoos. The most effective are the topical drops such as frontline or advantage that you would get from the vet. I tried the others when I was about flat broke and I just wasted my money. I spent the same amount of money on trying all the things that didn't work when I should have just went to the vet to begin with. PLEASE do not waste your time and money on these things. Especially if the fleas are that bad. You'll only be making your cat more miserable by the minute. And fyi, you can buy the topical drops by the single dose if you need to do that.
