lice

I think my cat might have lice.  She has patches of fur missing.  Her coat is overall beautiful but you can't tell anything is wrong with it.  I looked at where the patches of fur are missing and it looks like she might have a scab or something there possibly from her scratching.  Would you recommend a lice shampoo?  Sometimes when the hair comes off you can see red like scab things holding the hair together.  She is not an outdoor cat.  The patches of missing hair are mainly around her neck, tail and some underneath her neck.  She doesne't have any on her main part of her back.

i have never heard of a cat having lice, but i suppose its possible.
before you do anything else, lets treat it as if its just dry skin by giving the cat 1 SMALL can of wet cat food a day for 2 weeks, if the skin doesnt respond within the 2 weeks, then lets get her to the vet for a professional opinion. the vet will be able to tell you if its lice, fleas, or allergies and prescribe something to fix it.
