Adding a kitten to the family

Hello,

I already have a cat, she is 6 years old (roughly as we found her).  We have had her 5 1/2 years, I would like to get a kitten and I was wondering if it was best to leave her on her own.  If you think it's OK, which sex do you think I should get?

typically a male kitten would be in order but i dont think it matters, and of course you will have him neutered before he is 6 months old.
when you get the kitten, dont leave them alone together, seclude the baby into a room with food, water and a potty , only let them be together when someone is home and can watch them. you will have to do this for a couple of weeks. good luck
