Three cats too many?

I have two Oriental shorthair cats (both under 1 year of age) and I have the opportunity to take in another kitten.  I had adopted my 2 cats several months apart and they get along quite well (groom each other, often nap together, etc.).  I introduced them slowly and there was a bit of hissing but nothing too traumatic.  My concern is if adding a third (and final!) cat would be a problem.  I have heard of one cat in a house being picked on by all the others, and I'd be so upset if this happened.  Any advice?  It might help to know that money is not an issue, but we do live in an open-design apartment that is about 900 square feet.

I love Orientals!  I have owned several in the past. One of mine was white and the other chestnut. Anyway, to answer your question I doubt you will have any problems. As you said you will experience the hissing and growling at first, but eventually there shouldn't be a problem.  I have never had any problem introducing new cats into my home.  I just let them get to know each other and that means at first there will be a bit of tension.   Since you are getting a kitten, it shouldn't be hard at all. If it were another adult, it might be a bit more so.  A kitten will soon learn who the dominant cat is and will follow into line.  I just recently brought in two Siamese kittens and my one year old adult male was NOT happy at all.  But now they all sleep together, groom each other and he loves them as they all chase each other through the house.  I really think you'll be fine in bringing in a new baby!
