Question
Is it unusual at all for a cat to only have one kitten. MY cat had her 4th litter yesterday and she only had the one. On her last litter she only had two whereas on her first she had 4 and second 5. She is not a big cat really and people do think she is still a kitten, but this is her last litter as she will be getting done after this one. Many thanks.

Answer
Hi Samantha, A cat can have a litter size anywhere between 1 and 10 kittens with the normal size being about 4-5. So, although it is not as usual to have just one kitten it is nothing to worry about. As long as she doesn't have a dead kitten left in her she is fine. Make sure she is eating and drinking well and that she seems settled and happy with the kitten. If she has any symptoms of distress, diarrhea or anorexia get her seen by a vet to make sure that she does not have something left inside her.
