Question
Hi I was wondering if a mother with kittens already would accept a baby from a different mother that left it behind?
and if not how could I feed this new born kitten on my own if she rejects it and how often do I feed it a day? with an eye dropper or how much?

Answer
The mothe rmay accept the additional kitten; this is commonly done. But, if she a;lready has a full litter (as many kittens as she has teats) she may not accept the stranger and of course in any case its her perogative and she may decide not to do it. Give it a try. And keep a very close eye to be sure she actaully is feeding the new addition. If she doesn't then you will have to do it. You need to buy a kitten formula from a good pet store (NEVER MILK) and feed by eye dropper of by specially made mini-bottle which the pet store probably also has. You need to feed a young kitten every two hours, eventually going to every four hours after a few weeks and later, at about 5 weeks introducing canned kitten food. All of the instructions will be on the kitten formula package. But hurry, if mom isn't feeding the kitten and you aren't, it won't survive this.
