Pregnancy & Duration

QUESTION: I have a cat that seems to be in the 6-7 week range.  She is always coming to
me for constant petting and she drules.  She is getting huge, and I can
definately feel the babies.  Her nipples are getting really big but not leaking.  
She is quite restless and almost always sleeping.  Would you say she is within
this timeline.  The reason for asking is due to us really just noticing her
getting bigger a few weeks ago and saying ahhh she is definately pregnant
but not knowing before that.

ANSWER: Hi Vikki, It sounds like she may be further along than 6-7 weeks. I would guess she is very close to the 8 week mark from what you have told me. Usually you can JUST start to feel the kittens at 7 weeks.. and then they are EASILY felt at 8-9 weeks. You can usually see them from across the room. The "aahhh she is definitely pregnant" is about 5 weeks along, depending on how many kittens she is carrying.
Cat gestation is 63-68 days... so I would guess she has about 10-14 days left.. as a guess :)
Please let me know when she delivers how close I came with my guess !!

QUESTION: Hi Teresa:

We came home tonight around 8pm and found a kitten in the corner of our
livingroom and no other kittens.  The blood everywhere seemed still really
fresh... She just delivered the placenta and eat it (I know you did not need to
know that)  she is cleaning the kitten more.. did we just miss it and will she
have some more??? she is still big and there are more bumbs on her belly..
What do I do?

Hi Vikki, sorry to be so long getting back to you. I was on vacation over the weekend and I am sure your cat has finished her delivery by the time you get this email! It sounds like she was off to the right start and she has probably had a couple more kittens for you. Please let me know !
