Sweet cat gone bad..in the morning

Hi. I am almost 12 and have an adorable kitten called Tucker.<long story.> She is 1 years old, and usually a very good kitten. But lately she has gotten aggressive, scratching when I try to pick her up, but purring when I try later. Can you help me get my kitten back? Oh, by the way, she's not spayed. It sounds to me as if Tucker needs to be spayed!!!!!  This usually brings the kitten back.  The raging hormones, especially this time of year will create behavioral changes in otherwise sweet cats if they are not neutered or spayed.
