Question
QUESTION: Hi, I rescued the pregnant cat. Her water broke 14 hours ago. I can see the kittens moving, her breast is getting bigger, milk is coming out from her breast. Is she is coming in labour soon? I did read a lot of information from the Internet but it seams so confusing. I hope you may help me. Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Olga,

Sounds to me like she's in labor right now!  The best thing you can do now is put her in a quiet area away from people, dogs, other cats, etc. and let nature take its course.  If she is unfamiliar with you she may be anxious and that could affect the birthing process or even cause her to kill her kittens after they're born.  So find a nice quiet place with lots of towels and let her alone.  Be sure not to handle the kittens after they are born except to change out the towels (they'll be messy).  A new mother can be very nervous and could hurt you or her kittens.  Write back and tell me how she did and how many kittens she had.

QUESTION: No signs of kittens yet.

Answer
Hi Olga,

I would take her in to the vet if she still hasn't had kittens just to make sure there isn't one stuck in the birth canal.  I would have expected her to have had them by now from what you told me and if there is one stuck or if one or more of the kittens has died inside her it could be very detrimental to her health.  Try to get her in to the vet today if you can.
