Long Term Seperation

Question
I have a 2 year old tabby that I have had since he was 3 months old. I may be sent to Antarctica for a year for work and was wondering if it's okay to leave my cat with a trusted friend. My friend also has a cat, male and neutered just like mine...and my cat adores my friend. I'm a little apprehensive about being away from him for so long, I just need to know if it would be alright to do it. When I get back, I won't be gone like this again hopefully, so I can definitely spoil him again upon my return.

Thanks

Answer
Hi
well it sounds like a perfect solution to me. there may be issues at first regarding the two cats living under the same roof but if they are introduced properly( see my web page about that here /introducing-cats.html) there should be no problems.

Also when you get back there may also be another period of re adjustment but again with lots of care and attention this should work  out fine. See also my page about bonding with your cat

best wishes Kate
