QuestionHi,
Assuming a cat is spayed or neutered at a very young age, which is less like to spray or pee out of the litter box, a male or female? Also, what is the earliest they can be spayed or neutered? I don't currently have a cat but I want one and am trying to determine wht would make the better pet.
Irene
AnswerIrene,
Cats can be neutered or spayed as early as 12 weeks of age, as long as they weigh at least 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds). See:

It should not matter what the gender is as to marking or not. Usually if the cat suddenly stops using the litter pan to urinate that is the sign of a medical or behavioral issue.
