why dose a cat spit or some people call it hissing, mostley at other people when they visit ,somtimes at me can you help thanks ken

Its a sign that the cat is fearful and is hissing to try and deter the person or other animal away from them. Its sort of saying stay away.

It is natural behavior but if your cat is very stressed by people all the time you may want to speak to your vet or try some sort of calming treatment for your cat. After all a very stressed cat is a not a happy one.
