Is my seahorse sick?

Question
Hi! We purchased a mated pair of seahorses today. They seemed fine in the store, and looked healthy. They were properly acclimated to the tank, but since being in the tank, they have basically stopped moving. They each have their tail wrapped around an object, but are just staying still. We can see their eyes moving, and they are breathing, but not swimming at all. It has been almost 12 hrs since we brought them home. We have done multiple water checks, and everything is fine. Could they be sick, or is this a common behavior in  new environment? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Korin,

Seahorses spend most of thier time 'locked' onto a branch or something other something.

It is important to understand that they are not the best swimmers and dont need a lot of 'flow' in the tank.

make sure you feed them often, and maybe feed them in the same spot so they know where to go to be fed...

Good luck

Bill

BTW: I have a new forum.  Please check it out as there are a couple of other seahorse fans there.

WE have a live chat room, but since the forumis new, sometimes there might not be someone online at the same time.  Please wait as people log in at different times of the day.

Hope to see you there
