A goldfish that is full of eggs

Question
She has been getting bigger and looks like she will burst.  I have had another that died eventually.  For some reason they aren't able to dump their eggs.  Is there something I can do?  I feel like I could poke a hole in her belly and let them out, but it probably would kill her, but then she will die if she keeps going like this.  She was fat with eggs late summer already, and it is 6 months later.

Answer
Hi Margaret: it may be eggs or it may be an intestinal blockage.  If it is eggs she may be waiting for a "proper time" to spawn.  raise the water temp to about 74 degrees and separate her. She will need a tank with some cover in it so that she feels safe.  She will also need a male to fertilize her eggs... but once the eggs are released and fertilized... move the parents back to the original tank...

If its not eggs... you will need to feed her some worm medicine which you can get at the local aquarium... please keep me posted...dave
