-----Question-----
My green terror has layed eggs and the male has fertilized them.  How long does it normally take for them to hatch and will the female eat them?  Thanks for all the help.

Hi Janie,
They should hatch in about 3 days, assuming that your water temperature is about 80oF.  It will take longer if the water is cooler.  When they hatch, they become "wrigglers" which can wriggle but not swim. Typically the parents hide the wrigglers in a pit and you won't see them.  They stay as wrigglers for about 4 to 5 days. At the end of that, they can swim and you will see a school/cloud of fry.  Only at that point do you need to feed them.  Get them some frozen baby brine shrimp.

Hi Janie,
There is no need to remove the parents, in fact, I encourage you to leave the parents in there. They are much better at raising baby cichlids than a person ever could be.  Plus, watching them do so is one of the best parts about keeping cichlids.

Answer
Hi Janie,
Yes it is perfectly normal for the parents to move the wrigglers.  They might do it once a day or even once every few hours.

Cichlids like green terrors can theoretically breed every few weeks, but they typically don't if they are already tending kids. That slows them down.
