Question
Hi,
I just have a question about Tennessee walking horses and trick training. What is a good age for them to be for them to learn tricks? I might be getting a 7-9 year old Tennessee walking horse and I would like to train it some tricks and maybe even Parelli Natural Horsemanship.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Christina

Answer
Hello Christina,
I don't know exactly what "tricks" you are wanting to teach your horse but try to remember this point, you can call them "tricks" or "training", you are just going to focus on teaching your horse to give to pressure. Once you truly understand THIS, then giving to pressure can be a lay down, rear, or piaffe, or any other "trick" you have in mind. I think Parelli's program would be a great place to start. Also check out Clinton Anderson and Tommy Turvey.
