Possible Pregnancy

Question
Hi,
I have a eight year old mare that we breed for five consecutive days almost twelve months ago.  We were told that a horses gestation period was about 11 and a half months.  On the 20th of April will be a full year.  She has had a complete attitude turn around in that time.  She is much more lovely and calm where as before she was a snot that wouldn't sit still.  She does have a clear liquid that will come from her teats.  We walked her yesterday and while at a friends house she backed up to his stud and she let him breed her.  We never had her palpitated, because we just figured she would take.  She has put on weight and we think we have felt the foal move but maybe we are just too excited for something that is not going to happen.  She also does not seem to be forming a bag.  I hope you can give me some insight as we are not sure what to do, could she still be pregnant in this length of time and would she breed if she is.  Is it time to just get back in the saddle?  Thanks for your time and your thoughts.

Answer
Dear Lisa,
It is possible that she is now just beggining her stages of pregnancy or that she has been pregnant for all this time. It is possible that the foal is smaller then nomral, it does happen. In the wild horses breed sometimes when they are pregnant. It seems to me that she is because of the liquid from her teats and the forming of the bag, keep a close eye on her. The best thing is to get a pregancy test from a vet, there are very inexpensive methods.
