QuestionMy mare had an unplanned foal last July, and I think she might be pregnant again with an unplanned foal! There was a stallion on our farm up until last month. How can you tell if a horse is pregnant or not, without paying for a vet to take a look?
AnswerDear Katey,
Around 40 days she will begin to get bigger and appetite will get larger. Her teats will begin to get larger near the end of her pregnancy. She might go into heat but if she dosen't go into heat then you know she is. Some mares will go into heat when they are pregnant. It may be a while before she shows signs, but if you do not want to get a vet out then you must wait for the signs to show.
