Aggressive horse at feed time.

Question
I have a 5 year old TB off the track.  She normally has wonderful ground manners.  I sent her to training for 3 months and now that she is home she is aggressive at feed time.  She came back from training about 80lbs underweight and I am feeding her twice a day to try and get her weight back on.  When I bring her grain to her she is pushy she trots around me and gets into my space.  She even put her ears back and turned her but to me as thought to kick me last night.  She has never done this before.  I yell at her and will smack her on the shoulder to make her back off.  The problem appears to be getting worse.  When I enter her pasture for anything else she is very calm and respectful.  What do I do to stop this behavior now!  I am afraid she may actually hurt me. (I hate rude horses and do not want to own one!)

Answer
hi Erica,
this is a bad habit and is very annoying. when you feed her and she pins her ears smack her on her nose and make her move away from the feed and stand for a few minutes. if she turns her butt to you move to her shoulder and smack her butt whith a crop. make her move around you in a circle. this shows diminance. then make her stand on the other side of the stall. when you pour the feed and she tries to come over to eat, move her back and make her stand away from it. over time get it to wear she stand away from you right when you enter with feed. if she tries to ewalk to the manger chase her away. she can only eat until after you leave. the trainer probobly had her in a pen with pother horses and she was pushed away from the food and not allowed to eat until the others were done. you just need to show her you are still boss when it comes to feed time. if she stands away from the food when you give it to her, praise her and let her know thats what you wanted. good luck with your horse, if you have any other questions dont be shy to ask, im here to help. good luck and stay safe.
