How to build Respect

Question
My horse has an issue with respecting my wishes, or what I ask him to do.
Eventually I can get my horse to do something I ask by somebody walking
him, but he still does it a little reluctantly. If you have any ideas on how I can
build respect from my horse, I would greatly appreciate it!

Do some round pen work with him.  Can do wonders to instill respect.  If not familiar with round pen work there are lots of videos out there.  I'm sure some are available on the 'Net and there are some great DVD's by Pat Parelli and Clinton Anderson available.  A painless and easy (for you) way to build respect is with a round pen.  I use mine all the time.
