2 questions for my red eared slider

Question
(1) My turtle isn't coming up to bask, every time I pick him up and set him on his basking rock and he'll just slide back in the water. Is this something I should be worring about? (2)What FRUITS AND VEGETABLES would you recommend for having a good healthy red eared slider.

Answer
1.) He don't like his basking site- it may be incomfortable, too hot, too cold, too bright, too exposed, or somehow make him feel insecure. Review tank set-up ideas at site like the one listed below.

2. Red-ear sliders are carnivores that eat very, very little in the way of ANY plants or fruits when they are young. hey add some 'greens' as they get older and slower and need less energy- but even as adults the bulk of the diet is 'aquatic meats'.

As it grows, try some dark green leafy greens. Boil or microwave them just for a moment to help them sink in the water a little. Good quality food pellets, however, actually provide pretty much everything they need.
