Is my red ear slider turtle ok?

Question
Hello, i recently aquired a RES, she is about 9in long. my concern
is that her previous owners moved and left her at a friends
house for a week during that week i decided that i would adopt
her so i built her a outside terriaium. Her play area is 6 wide by
11ft long with a pond and and shaded\basking area. Her pond is
filled with water from the hose will that be bad for her? And in
between her moving with me and the friends house she was at i
dont think that she had a good diet and now she went into
hibernaton and im worried that she does not have enough food
stored in her food reserve. Also since she went into hibernation
do you think it would be ok for me to mover her into a box and
put her in the closet till winter is over? If you have any more
suggestions for a first time turtle owner please let me
know.Thank in advance for taking your time out to answer me
questions.

Answer
I'm going to bump you to a couple websites. I prefer to answer questions directly, but these guys did a better job than I would do, so...

http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/danas.htm

http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/refrigeratorhibernation.htm

The two sites I would recommend in general for you are:
http://www.austinsturtlepage.com and
http://www.redearslider.com

You DON'T HAVE to hibernate it, especially if you are worried about it, but it DOES take some special care to keep a turtle in general, and more special care (especially realy good lighting) to keep it active all winter.
