Trachemys scripta elegans Air Temperature?

Question
I have a baby RES with a great set-up.  My question is what air temperature should i have vivarium at night.  It is too cold to let it decrease to room temperature in my house. At least i think that it is too cold. 60-70 0F
i tried switching the light out and using an infrared bulb to keep the slider warm, but i am afraid to dry her out, because every morning when i change the light she feels stiff.  Am i just over worrying myself, what should i do to sustain the right Air Temp. at night for a red ear Slider?

Answer
Hello Christopher, the basking temperature should be around high 80s to low 90 degrees F. during the day. With ambient air temperatures of mid 70s to low 80s. I dont beleive there is an actual suggested night time air temperature as they usually sleep underwater and room temp (usually 73F) is fine. but low to mid 70s is fine... Usually the infrared bulbs are fine but I dont see how she would feel stiff. Have you tried using a CHE? (ceramic heat emitter ) they dont produce light only heat so they can be on 24 hours a day if needed..

Good luck
