Turtle Diet

Question
INTRO:  Some friends of mine just adopted a young red-eared slider about 5 inches in length abandoned at the complex I live at.  It was in poor shape when taken in, but seems to have revived quickly on dry turtle food over the past ten days.

QUESTION:

I have some good quality canned sardines (Beach Cliff brand, packed in water).  Can this be added to its diet?

(Mustard greens and water mellon are on the way.  Also thinking of adding meal worms and brine shrimp.)

Answer
Hello Robert. I would advise to remain away from canned foods like sardines as they have to add so m uch to them to keep them safe to eat.
You can offer feeder fish, you know the little gold fish, they love them, it is great exercise and helps keep some of the natural side for them. Do you have UVB and heat and filters? It is just as important as to how you keep them as how you feed them.

Please let me know about the others filters etc. So I can help you help the little guy. You have a good 15 to 20 ahead of you if you provide great care!
