Question
is leaves of the eldaberry bush poison's to rabbit's?
i do know the green berry is but thought the rest of the plant was okay.
i have one that went down this morning.the only thing i can think of is that it did get ahold of some leave's from this plant earlier this week.
it has been coolier this week so don't think it has to do with the heet.
he felt dehydrated/listless/and not able to get up or move.i don't think he had runny stool's and seemed okay till this morning.
no runny nose or sneezing at all.
is there something ales that could cause this to happen?
and so fast?

Answer
Dear Mrs. Denise,

The symptoms you describe could be caused by any of dozens of things, and without an autopsy it is impossible to know whether he was poisoned or not.  This might give some clues:

The roots, leaves, stems, and raw berries of elderberry contain cyanide, and if enough is ingested, toxicity can result.  But there is still no way to know if this is what happened to your bunny without more information.

I am sorry about your loss.
