NOT DRINKING WATER?

Question
MY RABBIT IS 7 MONTHS AND HE JUST STARTED TO EAT VEGGIES WHEN HE WAS 6 MONTHS. I NOTICED THAT FOR TWO DAYS HE HASN'T BEEN DRINKING HIS WATER, I'VE TRIED TO KEEP THE WATER FREASH, BUT HE STILL WON'T DRINK. EVERYTIME I ASK EITHER THE PET SHOP, OR I TRY TO READ A RABBIT BOOK I GET MIXED ANSWERS. ONE WAS IF HE DOESN'T NEED TO EAT PELLETS ANYMORE. IF ONLY VEGGIES ARE O.K? ONE SAID YES AND THE OTHER SAID NO. I TOOK HIS PELLEST AWAY, BUT I DECIDED TO GIVE IT BACK TO HIM. IT'S HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE WHAT PEOPLE SAY, AND WHAT I READ. WHY IS MY RABBIT NOT DRINKING WATER?

Answer
The first question would be what is normal water consumption for him?  Half a bottle a day, or you only fill it once a week?  Once you have that baseline established, then consider what kinds of veggies he gets.  If they are very watery, like some lettuce and celery, he may be substituting that for water. You could certainly try removing veggies and make sure he eats the pellets and drinks water.  A growing rabbit should have unlimited pellets.  He can have veggies as a treat, but not as he whole diet, at this age.
